Society is in conflict about what we want from parents. We want them to be able to spend time with their children. And we want many more women in senior roles. And we work the longest hours in Europe.
To dig deeper into this issue, Jericho Chambers will be holding a lively debate, hosted by Christine Armstrong, who interviews Power Mums and Dads for Management Today, on Thursday 16 January 2014, from 6pm. It will be chaired by Zoe Williams, of the Guardian, and held at the women’s networking club, Grace Belgravia.
For reasons that will be obvious on the night, we have had to move this Last Thursday event to the middle of the month.
Our chair will be Zoe Williams, of the Guardian on the social and political challenges this issue poses.
Our panellists will be:
Darcy Willson-Rymer, CEO of Costcutter Supermarkets Group, on the business realities of the issue.
Katie O’Donovan, Head of Communications, Mumsnet, will be representing the internal conflict faced by most working mothers.
Matthew Gwyther, panellist – editor, Management Today, will be looking at the structural challenge for businesses.
Nina Bhatia, Commercial Director, British Gas, representing the view of parents who hold senior roles.
With very best wishes,
Christine Armstrong
